Project Title: Cyber Law in Nepal - Evolution, Challenges, and Future Prospects

Group: Bhaskar Rijal (27023/077)[1]

Abstract: This case study examines the development and current state of cyber law in Nepal, focusing on its effectiveness in addressing modern digital challenges. Beginning with the Electronic Transactions Act of 2006, Nepal has made efforts to regulate cyberspace and combat digital crimes. The study analyzes key legislative measures, including the Cyber Security Act and Data Protection Bill, and their impact on issues such as online defamation, hacking, and e-banking fraud. It also identifies significant challenges in implementing cyber laws, including inadequate infrastructure, limited technical expertise, and low public awareness. By exploring recent cybercrime cases and legislative responses, this research aims to provide insights into the strengths and weaknesses of Nepal's cyber legal framework, highlighting areas for improvement in the face of evolving digital threats.
